A newly formulated hand sanitiser is being launched by an Acton based company and they plan to give it away to local schools, nurseries and charities.

Pai Skincare is based in South Acton and they will also be adopting a buy-one-give-one approach, donating a hand sanitiser vulnerable members of the community every time one is purchased. The cost will be £9 per 75ml.

Company founder, Sarah Brown said, “There is a global shortage of hand sanitising gel. Two weeks ago we decided to create one. I am so proud of how the team rallied together to launch a brand new product in two weeks (rather than the 18 months they
are used to spending perfecting a product!).

“Our ‘Acton Spirit’ Hand Sanitiser launches this week - Pai is based in South Acton and we felt it summed up the amazing resilience and community spirit we are seeing here in West London.

They aim have stock for Pai’s existing UK customers as soon as Monday 23 March and will give it away with orders first - before it goes on sale to new customers.

They warn that the packaging may be a little makeshift initially – was they are over-labelling existing tubes for speed.

The company is also taking measures to protect its staff during the current crisis. Since 2 March their back office team (70% of our workforce) has worked from home using Zoom for communication including for the regular office yoga sessions.

Those who need to be in the office - their Chemists, Production and Logistics teams have been travelling off-peak. Commutes are mostly by bike and car. They are launching a taxi service to get people in and home safely. When people get sick or have to self-isolate, they will pay their wages and send them care packages.

Their teams operate in a clean zone. The Production Facility has Air Locks, Hepa filter air purification and ISO standard protocols. The team wears disposable gloves, hairnets and protective clothing. All surfaces are disinfected daily and we have regular deep cleans of the entire building.
