Chiswick Post Office Closed To The Public

Chiswick Post Office counter in Heathfield Terrace has been closed to the public.

The Post Office has confirmed it is to be shut in a statement this Wednesday (1 April) saying “Chiswick Post Office is temporarily closed due to staffing issues caused by the covid-19 pandemic including underlying health concerns.

"It is not known at this stage when this branch and Strand on the Green Post Office, which is also closed due to staffing issues, will re-open."

There had been local reports that a member of staff displayed symptoms of the coronavirus.

Strand on the Green post office is also operating under reduced hours from this week, as Mrs. Joshi takes extra precautions due to her age and health concerns.

The Post Office said that people in Chiswick could find alternative post offices in other areas during the temporary closure. The spokesperson said; "In the interim alternative Post Offices include The Vale Post Office, Starch Green and King Street.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these temporary closure as we know how important Post Offices are to communities and Post Offices are designated as an essential retailer by the UK Government.”

The full address of alternative branches are:

• The Vale Post Office, 125-127 The Vale, Acton, W3 7RQ
• Starch Green Post Office, 7 Kings Parade, Askew Road, Starch Green, W12 9BA
• King Street Post Office, 168 King Street, Hammersmith, W6 0QU

We have asked for information about the Sorting and Parcel office which is next door to the main post office and we will report back when we hear.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

For businesses we offer the chance to be a corporate sponsor of community content on the site. For £30 plus VAT per month you will be the designated sponsor of at least one article a month with your logo appearing if supplied. If there is a specific community group or initiative you'd like to support we can make sure your sponsorship is featured on related content for a one off payment of £50 plus VAT.
