Hammersmith Gridlock Follows Delivery Lorry Crash

Hammersmith Bridge Road now open again but pedestrian crossing closed

Hammersmith Gridlock Follows Delivery Lorry Crash

Both lanes of Hammersmith Bridge Road have now reopened following a crash this morning, 9 May, which caused gridlock on local roads.

However the local pedestrian crossing remains out of use as it was damaged in the collision.

The collision, between a supermarket delivery lorry and a white van happened some time before 8.15am on Hammersmith Bridge Road southbound near St Paul’s Green just before it passes under the flyover.

The road was initially fully closed. Then one lane reopened but there were substantial traffic jams across the area. Bus travel times are reported to be an hour longer than normal.

With both lanes now open and local bus services back to normal, the traffic is now "improving".

At this time nobody is reported to have been seriously hurt in the collision.
