Disabled Divers Make a Splash

Latymer Sub-Aqua Club holds 'come and try' session

Disabled scuba-divers held their ‘Come and Try’ afternoon which was open to the public on Saturday 8th September. All were welcome to get a taste of scuba diving in a one to one session in the pool with Club instructors.

The pool session at Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith was followed by a fantastic Greek style Barbecue in the lovely surroundings of the School gardens. The event finished with a demonstration of Greek dancing, which everyone was invited to join in!

A lot of fun was had, and more than £800 was raised to support the Latymer Sub-Aqua Club for People with Disabilities.

The Club meet fortnightly on Saturday afternoons and provide scuba diving training free of charge to disabled people. This is possible through the support of Latymer Upper School giving use of the pool facilities and the volunteer instructors who give their time free. Scuba equipment is provided and a hoist is available to make getting in and out of the pool a comfortable experience.
