Extended Apollo License Stopped

Councillors concerned about management of the venue

Hammersmith Apollo has been refused permission to run events involving several thousand people until 2am by Hammersmith and Fulham Council.

The music venue applied for a 2am licence for up to 20 nights a year, but was refused on Monday, November 26.

Councillor Steve Cowan said: "My fellow councillors and I were concerned that the current licence was not always being managed properly.

"It had caused a wide variety of on-going disturbance to our constituents. We were worried that this new extended application was a recipe for greater problems and so we were keen to oppose the Apollo's plans."

If the Apollo appeals the panel's decision, the councillors have promised to present evidence to the magistrate explaining why the late licence should not be allowed.
