Five Found Guilty Of Hammersmith Grove Murder

Kodjo Yenga died after gang ambushed him with knives, bats and a bull terrier

Five teenagers have been found guilty of killing 16 year old schoolboy Kodjo Yenga in Hammersmith Grove last March.

Two youths, aged 14 and 17, were found guilty of murder and three others, aged 17, 14 and 15, were found guilty of manslaughter at the Old Bailey.

Police were called to Hammersmith Grove at approximately 17.30 on 14th March 2007 to answer reports of a disturbance. When they arrived they found a 16-year-old Kodjo Yenga suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to Charing Cross Hospital in a critical condition and was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

At the time a local shopkeeper told how he saw a gang of teenagers chasing the boy through the streets and heard shouts of "Kill him, kill him." After the stabbing the youths dispersed but five were arrested soon after at a house on Iffley Road.

None of the defendants or young witnesses can be named because of their ages.

The five were all remanded in custody until sentencing on 9th May.
