Man Charged with Melrose Gardens Stabbing

Detectives investigating the murder of a 42-year-old man in Hammersmith this Thursday (1 March) have charged a man with murder.

32-year-old Stephen Blake, of Melrose Gardens W6, will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates court on Saturday, 3 March.

The victim was stabbed to death in a property in Melrose Gardens off Shepherd's Bush Road.

Police arriving at the scene arrested a Mr Blake inside the property and took him into custody at a west London police station.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said, "At this early stage, nobody else is sought in connection with this investigation."

The victim was found suffering from stab wounds at around 5.40pm and pronounced dead at the scene.

Local people posted pictures and videos of the scene at around 6pm this evening, with the street cordoned off and the property surrounded by cars.

One neighbour said there appeared to be 12 police cars and four ambulances in the street.

The pictures above, tweeted by Jethro @jethro247 show the dramatic scenes in the snow covered street.

Although the victim has not been formally identified police believe they know who he is and his next of kin have been informed.

The Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) are investigating, and detectives are not seeking anyone else in connection with this murder.
