After tweeting the above photo from his hospital bed immediately after the stabbing, the rapper took to Twitter again a week later on 11 September, saying @Young_Spray: " Thanks to everyone that sent their love, i’m all good peeps."

More controversially, he added: " So much people chatting shit like they want guys to get nicked for this? Never been my angle. I don’t play the victim well. Anything that reaches me, I deserve. It’s not the internet, you can’t just sign out. Calm."

The rapper also calls himself Mr RTM, short for Realer Than Most, and offers a range of RTM clothing along with his music on the website of the same name.

He has said he became a rapper after serving a prison term as a teenager.

At around 9.10pm police were called to the venue after a man, also aged 37, had suffered knife wounds. They weren’t life-threatening and the victim has since been discharged from hospital.

KA & GRM Daily Rated Awards are for the British Urban music scene and a number of leading artists from the grime scene were present including Skepta and Big Narstie.

"The safety of attendees is our primary concern and stringent security measures were in place to ensure this. We are assisting the police with their ongoing enquiries and will work closely with them, the venue and the security team to understand how this happened."

A spokesperson for the Eventim Apollo said, "During an event at the Eventim Apollo, an incident occurred where a male was seriously assaulted.

"The individual received immediate medical care onsite and was taken to hospital by ambulance. The matter is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Service, and we are assisting them with their enquiries."
