Latymer Upper in partnership scheme with Hurlingham and Chelsea School

A group of twenty-one GCSE students from Hurlingham and Chelsea School, the 11-16 comprehensive in Fulham, have benefited from a ten-week course of enhancement teaching at Latymer Upper, the independent school on King Street in Hammersmith.

The course, which was taught by Latymer staff and organised in partnership with the local borough, consisted of over twenty hours of maths, physics and chemistry teaching.

“It’s been extremely helpful for revision,” said Meechok Maingarm, one of the boys from Hurlingham and Chelsea. “The Latymer teachers have been very friendly and the lessons have been enjoyable.”

Another student, Miriam El-Ghazoini, agreed: “I feel more confident in maths, and I think they will have boosted my chances of getting a C-grade in maths GCSE – that’s my goal.”

Sadan Turker and Mustaf Awale, two other Year 11 students on the course, said that the small classes on the course had meant that they had benefited from lots of one-to-one attention from the teachers. But they also added: “Oh, and the tea and biscuits have been great, too!”

“Latymer is delighted to have hosted the students from Hurlingham and Chelsea who have come on this course,” said Chris Hammond, Assistant Headmaster at Latymer Upper. “They have got on with the course extremely well and have been a pleasure to teach. We sincerely hope that their experience here will boost their grades in this summer’s GCSE. We wish them all the very best.”

On the last day of the course, Latymer’s Head, Peter Winter, met the Hurlingham and Chelsea students and presented them with certificates of achievement.
