HF Police launch November Robbery Operation

Borough has suffered a recent increase in offences of robbery

Hammersmith & Fulham Police are launching a November anti-robbery campaign that will target criminals in the borough.

The borough has suffered a recent increase in offences of robbery and there is a determination to tackle those people responsible for these crimes.

Hammersmith & Fulham police will use additional resources and a number of tactics to tackle robbery in the borough. There will be an emphasis on high visibility reassurance policing but there will also be covert tactics employed to arrest those people committing these offences.

Officers will be able to take advantage of video equipment to identify suspects and record offences. Officers will be briefed with suspect descriptions from previous offences and will pro-actively identify suspects. The continuing partnership between Hammersmith & Fulham police and the borough CCTV system is also set to continue.

Chief Inspector Keith Overstall, who is leading the operation said: “Hammersmith & Fulham police are giving a clear message to criminals – if you come to the Hammersmith, Fulham or Shepherd Bush area and commit crime you will be caught or actively pursued until you are caught. “

Chief Inspector Overstall added: “It is extremely important that victims of robbery contact police immediately. Police have a far greater chance of catching the suspect(s) if they arrive at the scene promptly. We are able to get a description of the suspects and then take the victim out in a ‘drive-round’ to identify the offender. I want the fear to be with the criminals not with people going about their everyday business”.
