Apothecary Gallery Hosts West London Original Prints Show


Exhibition features the work of 12 local printmakers

 

Greyhound Road's Apothecary Gallery CIC is hosting the West London Original Prints Show, an exhibition of the work of 12 local artist printmakers, accompanied by an Artists Talk and End of Show Drinks.

The exhibition runs from Monday November 24, with a private view from 6pm - 9m, to Monday December 1.

There will be an Artists Talk with Sumi Perera on Thursday November 27 at 7pm and End of Show Drinks on Sunday November 30 from 6pm -8pm.

The exhibition will be open to view by appointment after the private view.

Artists:

Sue ANDRAE

Sue gained an MA in Printmaking from Wimbledon School of Art in 1996 having previously studied for a sculpture BA and Postgraduate Diploma. She works in both media and exhibits regularly including Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Works on Paper Art Fair, Mall Galleries, Hiscox Gallery, The Affordable Art Fair, The Royal West of England Academy.  She was Head of Printmaking at Kensington and Chelsea College from 1997-2008.

Line ASSELIN

Coming from a scientist background, Line has always been interested in Photography, Painting, Design and Architecture. She turned to Photo-etching in 2009 and since then, has continued to explore the multiple facets of Printmaking techniques. She enjoys mixing different medias while playing with colors and lines.

Uta BROUET


Uta is a Printmaker and sculptor. She graduated from Heatherley School of Fine Art, specializing in Figurative Art.  Winner of the Heatherley Sculpture Prize in 2012. Uta uses sculptural shapes carved into wood or lino which are printed in superposition to create an ocean world in which figures are lost, slowly sliding towards the seabed.

Diane COMTE FROST


Diane is an artist printmaker based in Hammersmith. She has been studying printmaking at Kensington and Chelsea College, where she received the Printmaking Award last year. She has been recently awarded the Printmakers Council prize (2014/15) and is curating this exhibition.

Christina CREWS

Christina is an artist printmaker. Abstraction and formalism are the substance of her practice. The intangibility of the process and elements of chance determine the end result. Christina has work in public and private collections and is a member of the Printmaker's Council and the London Print Studio.

Andy FINLAY

Currently studying at the University of Westminster doing a BA in Fine Art, Andy works in oil paints, dry point and pencil. His dry point work is created 'en plein air' and the plates are developed back in his studio in Windsor. His prints maintain the instant, free-form quality and energy of the initial open air drawings.

Sarb GIRN

Sarb studied Fine Art at Central St. Martins College. Working as an artist, curator and creative consultant, his works have appeared on CNN. He has consulted for the current Conservative Government, Greenpeace, and The Workspace Group.  He has shown and has organised shows with various artists such as Banksy, Gavin Turk, Ian Monroe and Gordo.

Kate HARDY

Kate is an East London based Artist who has who has loved making prints since Primary School. A graduate of St Martin's School of Art, and the University of Michigan School of Art, her work is in many private and public collections nationally and internationally.

Anne MUSSO

Anne is a multimedia artist who has worked as a ceramicist for 30 years. She has ventured more recently into printmaking. Her work is inspired by textures found in nature, the beauty of London parks and the changing of seasons.

Sumi PERERA RE

Sumi gained an MA from Camberwell College in 2004, has won several international prizes and has work held in international public collections including the Tate Britain and Victoria & Albert museums. She exhibits and curates drawing upon her background working as a Doctor, Scientist and Artist. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers, Society of Designer Craftsmen and a member of the Society of Graphic Fine Artists and the 62 Group.

Daniela RIZZI

Daniela's practice includes painting, drawing, printmaking, photography and mixed media. The work evolves through the process of working and as such is intuitive, and part of it progresses with certain definitive ideas. Use of strong colour, formal and informal aspects of image making and personal concerns define her artwork. She is a tutor at Kensington and Chelsea College and a member of the Printmakers Council and East London Printmakers.

Louisa TODMAN

Louisa is a sculptor and printmaker.
