Opera Alegria Bring Mozart to the Bush Theatre

Enjoy two short operas for one night only next Tuesday

Opera Alegria are bringing their fresh, funny opera style to The Bush Theatre for one night only on Tuesday 24th February at 8pm.

Presenting a double bill of Mozart's two short operas - Bastien and Bastienne with The Impresario - this lively evening promises a night of tender love, underhand machinations and riotous comedy accompanied by sublime music.

Composed when Mozart was just 12 years old, Bastien and Bastienne is the story of young love tested by the plot of jealous Colas. Reimagined for the 21st century in a coffee shop in West London, soprano Rosie Lomas, tenor Oliver Brignall and baritone Alistair Sutherland bring the love story of the young couple to life.

But will Colas succeed in breaking them up and winning Bastienne's heart for himself?

In the evening's second half, The Impresario takes an irreverent look at the world of opera itself with warring sopranos and egotistical producers battling to keep the art form and it's music alive.

Sopranos Naomi Kilby and Jodie Kearns fight it out alongside tenor Chris Killerby, baritone Alistair Sutherland and actor Benjamin Newhouse-Smith.

Fast paced and furiously funny, will the diva win over the ingénue?

Tickets are £15 (£12 conc, £8 for under 16s) from Alegria.
