Hammersmith theatre asking for support in the next few days
For the next few days any donations made to the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre by local residents will be doubled as part of the Big Give campaign.
Up until midday on 30 June anyone supporting the theatre’s Champions for Children fundraising campaign through this link will effectively be giving twice as much to support their activities.
The theatre closed on 17 March and overnight this meant that most of their income had gone and many of their educational programmes for the community were suspended.
Despite this they have continued to support children and young people in west London with creative projects.
They now need help to reopen and remain at the heart of our community.
At the time of writing over £26,000 had been raised of the £40,000 fundraising target.
A spokesperson for the theatre said, “We are raising money to help ensure that when we can reopen we can start all our activities for the community again – nurturing the creativity and talent of the next generation and creating opportunities for everyone. As an example of our work that we’ve continued through lockdown we have been sharing films from our ‘Letters from lockdown’ project. In partnership with Hammersmith and Fulham council we worked with keyworkers children in local primary schools to create characters and monologues, they were then performed and filmed by young performers. “
One of the films they have released can be seen below.
