Consultation over future of Queen Caroline estate

Developers have their eyes on Ashcroft Square and Queen Caroline estates

Hammersmith and Fulham Council has begun consulting with residents over plans to develop areas such as Ashcroft Square estate on King Street, and Queen Caroline estate behind the Apollo.

The council has admitted that St Martins Property Corporation is interested in redeveloping the Ashcroft Square estate, and the developer of Queens Wharf site was interested in the Queen Caroline estate behind the Apollo.

However, it denied the existance of any plans or proposals to give the area over to developers.

A council spokesman said: "H&F Council, together with H&F Homes, is starting to look at ways we can improve and renew our estates over the next 15-20 years once Decent Homes investment comes to an end.

"However, the important thing to stress is that there are no plans or proposals.

"First of all we want to get a better idea of how residents view life on their estate. This will help us in forming any future proposals."

Further consultation will be carried out in March by the council and H&F Homes, an Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) which looks after homes for tenants and leaseholders in Hammersmith and Fulham, and is responsible for around 18,000 homes.
