Gastropub beats Gordon

Princess Victoria pub in Uxbridge Road scoops award

A pub in Uxbridge Road has beaten off competition from

Gordon Ramsay's new Warrington pub to be crowned Best Gastropub in the Time Out Eating and Drinking Awards 2008.

Princess Victoria in Shepherd's Bush is run by master sommelier Matt Wilkin and James McLean, and is said to create the ambiance of an English country pub in west London.

Critics praised the pub's "stunning wine list, welcoming ambience and good food."

The pub, an 1829 former Gin Palace, has recently been restored to its former glory.

It opened in April this year, despite an arson attack on the premises on February 16.
