Tube Workers Threaten Strike Action

Over the loss of what they believe to be more than 3,500 jobs

Tube Unions are warning that they will go on strike if Transport for London go ahead with their proposed job cuts.

In a statement, leader of the TSSA transport union Gerry Doherty, said, "We have it from senior sources that 2,500 jobs will go at TfL on top of those at London Underground."

Unions believe that up to 3,500 jobs could be lost - more than double the figure announced by Transport for London.

TfL said the network will lose 1,000 jobs and are refusing to rule out compulsory redundancies.

Staff and union leaders staged a protest outside London Underground headquarters, demanding bosses "come clean" over the number of jobs going.
