District Line Improvements Shelved

After TfL prioritises other lines in cost cutting exercise

Millions of pounds worth of tube improvements are to be shelved.

The disclosure comes after Transport for London, who are set to take over failed tube maintenance company Metronet, looks for ways to save money.

Whilst it would not be top of commuters agenda at this moment, the proposed £150m tube cooling system has been put on ice as well as expected upgrades at stations including those on the District Line.

There will also be cutbacks on planned accessibility improvements for disabled passengers, fewer upgraded lifts will be installed and the number of new access slopes reduced.

Transport for London have said that they will prioritise improvements to the Bakerloo, Central and Victoria lines which will leave other projects without funding.
