Drug addict found guilty of stealing luxury cars from supermarket car parks

A drug addict and his accomplice have been sentenced to six years and five years in prison respectively after they were found guilty of stealing three luxury cars.

Isleworth Crown Court heard how 24 year old Joe Wegener from Chiswick and Gary Grey from Shepherds Bush lurked around supermarket car parks waiting for owners of luxury vehicles.

The pair used violence and knife threats during the robberies of a Jaguar, Mercedes and a BMW from the car parks of Asda and Ealing Sainsbury’s last year.

Wegener and Grey admitted one charge of attempted robbery and one of robbery. Wegener also admitted to a burglary in Hammersmith and of assault claiming his actions were “motivated by addiction to hard drugs”.

Judge Sam Katkhuda said people had the right to park their cars in public places without being subjected to violence and having the cars taken from them.
