Keen Eye For Art Affords Local Resident A Glimpse of Devon

Fletcher Estates Awards Artists At Home's Prize

Chiswick based estate agent Fletcher Estates are the principal sponsors of Artists at Home and without their support the illustrated studio guide which enables people to make an informed choice of studios to visit would not be produced.

Last year the Fletchers Art Buyers’ Prize was launched which proved so successful in attracting people to visit more studios that the scheme was repeated this year.

Joanna Brendon, Chair of AAH comments,“It is not just the artists who are expressing themselves; the visitors, and especially the buyers, are also making statements about their aesthetic preferences”.

The Fletchers Art Buyers Prize, encourages people to visit ten or more studios over the course of the weekend and those who did so were entered into a draw.

The lucky winner this year was Susan Herbert of Hammersmith, who chose to spend the money on a small painting, "Devon Glimpse"

Artists At Home is an annual celebration of the wealth and diversity of creativity in Chiswick, Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush. This year 47 painters, sculptors, ceramicists, textile designers, photographers, print-makers and jewellers welcomed visitors to their workspace, whether a dedicated studio or a corner of the living-room.

Artists At Home is especially attractive to those living in West London, but the artists who take part are far from parochial. Many have regular gallery exhibitions and painters Elaine Brown and Ben Johnson are involved with Liverpool as European Cultural Capital of 2008.
