Boxing Royalty Attending Charity Event at The Park Club


Current and former World Champions set to see bouts involving novices

The white collar boxing event this Saturday night (19 March) at the Park Club will have extra pressure for the participants with some of the biggest names in British boxing set to be at ringside.

16 Park Club and Hogarth members have been training for the last three months to take part in an event which is raising funds for the NSPCC. In the audience will be former World Super-Middleweight champion Carl Froch, current World Lightweight Champion, Anthony Crolla, local hero and three times World Super Middleweight title challenger George Groves and former World Cruiserweight Champion, Glenn McCrory, who now commentates for Sky.

Also there will be middleweight Paul Smith, a two time world challenger and Spencer Oliver, former European Super-Bantamweight Champion. From outside the world of boxing will be Jake Wood, Eastenders’ Max Branning.

The contestants have been training hard under the tutelage of Boxing Coaches Lee Denton and Ali Ahmed and will be facing three 2 minute rounds.

The event is in its third year and has exploded this year with 9 bouts including total novice member on member, a couple of return “grudge fights” plus a Pro Fight licensed under the German Boxing Board. The levent has extraordinary support with Sky TV’s Ringside team Adam Smith and 13 time World Cruiserweight Champion Glenn McCrory as commentators and Adrian Chiles as compere for the evening.

On the night a fully stocked bar and street food by Richard Johnson will be available for purchase. This is an informal event and there are still some standing tickets available at £30 + booking fee with all proceeds going the NSPCC.
