Year 7 student chosen by Addison Singers for show at St Andrew's Church

Marika Karatapelis, a Year 7 student at Godolphin & Latymer School is set to star in the Addison Singers jazz choir's next concert at St Andrew's Church in Greyhound Road.

The choir promises that Out of the Box: an evening of music from TV and film will be a 'Christmas Cracker' on Saturday 21 November 2015.

When the Addison Singers jazz choir were looking for a child to take a solo in the upcoming concert, they sought advice from the highly regarded Tri-borough Music Hub and were directed to The Young Singers.

This choir for gifted primary school singers, run by the Tri-borough Music Hub in partnership with The Bach Choir, have performed in the Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall and recorded for BBC 3.

From amongst their ranks, Addison Jazz chose Marika to feature in Howard Goodall’s utterly beautiful arrangement of The Lord is my Shepherd.

This song will be familiar to many as the theme to the Vicar of Dibley and it is from TV and film that Jill Jarman, Addison Jazz choir conductor, sought inspiration for this concert.

Jill, whose work as a contemporary composer is becoming increasingly known and performed worldwide, has included her original arrangements of iconic theme tunes to Dr Who and Hawaii Five-0, along with the Pink Panther and film favourites such as Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend and As Time Goes By.
