Local Councillor Picked for Fast Track Scheme

Paul Bristow being groomed for future leadership role

Hammersmith and Fulham Councillor Paul Bristow has been picked for a national programme designed to identify future leaders.

Cllr Bristow is among the top 19 Conservative councillors in the country to qualify for Next Generation, a cutting edge programme developed by the Leadership Centre for Local Government.

Joe Simpson, in charge of Next Generation at the Leadership Centre, said: “Our politicians have a real impact on residents of their borough so it’s crucial the people of Hammersmith and Fulham get the very best of leaders.”

As cabinet member for residents’ services, Cllr Bristow lists cutting taxes, a responsive council and delivering employment, homes and prosperity as his key local government priorities. He cites the delivery of £1.2 million savings through the Residents’ Direct Programme together with key service improvements, such as on-line parking permit renewals as a key achievement.

During the 18 month programme, Cllr Bristow will develop practical leadership skills, work with the best of policy-makers and have privileged access to senior party members.

Now in its second year, Next Generation provides the country’s aspiring councillors with the support and personal development needed to help them transform into visionary leaders for their communities.

The Leadership Centre works with local authorities and politicians of all parties throughout England.
