Violence Erupts After Chelsea Cup Tie

34 Arrests Made After Football Fans Clash Outside White Horse Pub

Police are appealing for witnesses after a massive brawl outside Parson Green’s White Horse Pub on Sunday evening. The violence erupted between rival Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur fans around 8.20pm on Sunday 11th March, after rival team’s quarter final cup tie ended in a draw. According to one report, knives, base ball bats and pieces of wood with nails were amongst the weapons being used leading Police to believe that the fight could have possibly being pre-arranged.

A total of 34 arrests were made, seven of whom are currently in custody whilst they undergo treatment for their injuries, including a 45 year old with head injuries and a 40 year old with head and chest injuries.

An investigation will be carried out by Hammersmith and Fulham Crime Operations to establish the full circumstances of the incident working closely with the Met's Football Intelligence Unit. This unit is dedicated to pulling together evidence to bring those responsible for violence in the name of football before the courts, and presenting such evidence that the courts may use the powers available to them to ban these people from matches, both in the UK and abroad.

Supt Dave Page of Fulham and Hammersmith said "Incidents of this nature following a football match are rare, but it would appear that a very small number of supporters were intent on meeting after the match for a confrontation.

"We are committed to providing a safe and trouble free environment for the majority of supporters who attend the match to support their teams."

We are asking any witnesses or anyone with information to call Hammersmith police on 020-8246 2505; if you wish to remain anonymous please call Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
