Second Arrest Made After Fulham Hit-And-Run

Woman, 34, accused of perverting course of justice

Police have made a second arrest over the hit-and-run death of 34-year-old Karl Jones, pictured below, on Fulham Palace Road on Sunday 1 June. A woman, also aged 34, has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice over the fatal road crash.

This arrest comes more than two months after a Chiswick man who is believed by police to have driven the black VW Golf which hit Karl Jones, was incarcerated on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The latest statement from the Met suggests that the suspect's bail will be extended again until mid-September.

The female suspect has also been bailed until mid-September. It is not clear whether she is the same woman who was arrested but then released with no further action in the week after the mortal collision.

Police revealed in June that Jones was involved in an altercation at the Southern Belle pub on Fulham Palace Road, shortly before he was killed on the same road by a black Golf, later traced back to an address in Alexandra Gardens, Chiswick.

Detective Sergeant Jeff Edwards, who leads the investigation, has asked for anyone who might have seen the incident on Sunday 1 June to come forward:

"I would appeal to anyone who witnessed either of these incidents or events prior or immediately after these incidents, to contact police so we can piece together the series of events which led to this tragic incident."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the witness appeal line on 0208 941 9011.
