Man from West Kensington Among Three Charged with Grenfell Tower Fraud


Gorleston Street resident Abolaji Onafuye will appear in court today

A resident of Gorleston Street, off North End Road in West Kensington is among four men who have been charged by police investigating fraud offences linked to Grenfell Tower.

Abolaji Onafuye, 54, has been charged with two counts of fraud by false representation. Two others have also been charged with fraud and a fourth with drug offences.

A second man, Abdelkarim Rekaya, 28, who has been charged with fraud by false representation and obtaining leave by deception, lives in Lots Road on the border of Chelsea and Fulham.

They are due to appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates' Court today Friday 8 June along with two other men - Koffi Kouakou, 54 of Elizabeth Court, SW1, charged with fraud by false representation and Yonatan Eyob, 25, of no fixed abode, charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs; possession of class A drugs; possession of criminal property and failing to supply a PIN code of a mobile phone contrary to section 49 of RIPA.

Five other people - four men and one woman - who were arrested on Thursday, 7 June have been released under investigation.

Police say their enquiries continue.
