Have your say in disabled residents survey by Friday 31 March

Residents with disabilities are being urged to have their say on ways to make Hammersmith & Fulham a better place to live and work.

A survey, put forward by H&F's Disabled People's Commission, is asking disabled people to describe their experiences of services and facilities in the borough.

Chair of the Disabled People's Commission, Tara Flood, says: "I think the survey is a really good opportunity for disabled residents to tell the Commission what life is like in the borough, and how involved disabled residents really feel in local decision making.

"We will use the results from the survey in our work to get the council to commit to putting disabled residents at the heart of local decision making and policy setting.

"I’d encourage anyone who has yet to take part to do so before the consultation closes on March 31st."

The Disabled People's Commission started its work in September last year.

It is looking into the experiences of disabled people in the borough, to help make positive changes to increase equality and inclusivity for all those who live in, work in and visit Hammersmith & Fulham.

"The barriers which exclude people with impairments are varied and not just physical,” said Cllr Sue Fennimore, H&F Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion.

"They can include people’s attitudes and a lack of information and awareness of disabled people’s rights – and we need those affected by these issues to share their experiences with us, so that we can improve life in the borough.”
