Residents Offered Free Home Workouts and Fitness Classes

App for members of H&F's three Better leisure centres now open to all

With leisure centres and gyms currently closed, free virtual fitness classes are on offer to everyone currently stuck at home, as Hammersmith & Fulham teams up with fitness partners GLL.

GLL, a charitable social enterprise which runs three leisure centres in the borough - Hammersmith Fitness & Squash CentreLillie Road Fitness Centre and the Phoenix Fitness Centre & Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool under the trade name Better, has opened up its mobile app to residents to help everyone stay healthy and active.

The Better UK app, usually only available to members of GLL’s three fitness centres in the borough, offers virtual fitness classes and guides for home workouts.

The app is free to download for both Apple and Android devices. Once you have the app, simply enter the access code ‘BETTERFREE to get started.

In the app you’ll find various activities to try at home, with new content due to be added shortly, tailored for older people and children, so that anyone can take part.

"It’s essential that while the country is on lockdown people still have the opportunity to stay fit and active," said Cllr Wesley Harcourt, H&F Cabinet Member for Environment.

" We’re grateful GLL has made such a community-focused decision to help our residents.

" There’s already a huge burden on our national health service and helping residents to stay healthy during these unprecedented times will lessen that strain and could lead to longer-term health benefits for everyone."
