Imperial College Healthcare Launches Consultation over Foundation Trust Plans

Public can respond online or visit one of three upcoming local meetings

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust has launched a 12 week public consultation into plans to become an NHS foundation trust.

Becoming a foundation trust would give Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust greater freedom to decide, with the Trust’s governors and members, how services are run for the benefit of patients and the local community.

An important part of the consultation is a document called Working in Partnership. This publication outlines the proposed foundation trust model for membership and governance and the Trust’s vision and objectives to deliver high quality, safe and compassionate care for patients.

Commenting on the Trust’s application to become a foundation trust, Sir Richard Sykes, the Trust’s chairman, says: " Becoming a foundation trust will demonstrate that our healthcare meets the highest standards of safety and quality and that the Trust is a well-organised and well-governed organisation.

" Putting patients first remains at the centre of everything we do and this will continue should we become a foundation trust."

The public can read Working in Partnership and find out more information about the Trust’s foundation trust application, including how to become a prospective member, on the Trust's website.

The Trust says it very much welcomes hearing views on its proposals and plans and is encouraging as many people as possible to let us know what they think. A letter from our chairman and joint chief executives asks patients, partners, the public and people who work for the Trust for their views.

Responses can submitted online or via the response form contained in the printed copies of the consultation document.

The Trust is also holding public meetings during the consultation period offering an opportunity to find out more about the proposals and plans, ask questions and let people provide their views:
