King Street Post Office to be Modernised

New-style branch will have longer opening hours

King Street's Post Office is set to get a makeover in time for Christmas.

The Post Office is modernising the office at 168 King Street into a new-style branch with longer opening hours for customers.

As part of Post Office plans to modernise the network and extend the opening hours for customers, King Street Post Office will have three serving positions – a mix of two screened positions and a Post Office serving point provided for use at the retail counter.

This is a new concept for delivering Post Office products and services available alongside retail transactions during shop opening hours.

King Street Post Office will close for refurbishment on Tuesday October 22 at 5.30pm and the new-look Post Office will open on Thursday November 14 at 1pm.

The Post Office says that during this refurbishment the nearest alternative offices are the one within WHSmiths in Kings Mall, and another at 353 King Street

Post Office Regional Network Manager - South, Will Russell says: " We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in this area of Hammersmith and we are confident that the new branch will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future."

The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches.

The Post Office says customers will benefit from opening hours being extended by 11 hours a week as selected products and services will available during shop opening hours, which will be Monday to Saturday: 8.30am – 6pm. This means branch will open half an hour earlier and close half an hour later every day.

King Street Post Office will also gain the car tax renewal service.
