H&F Unity Day is Back on Sunday 11 June

Celebrate our borough's diversity and stand against racism

 

Hammersmith and Fulham's Unity Day, celebrating our borough’s diversity and taking a stand against racism is back this Sunday, 11 June.

Unity Day is now an annual event after the success of last year, which saw thousands of people march through the streets in protest against a rise in reported hate crime.

 

"Last year’s march and celebration of our diversity was so popular, we decided to make it an annual event," says H&F's new Mayor, Cllr Michael Cartwright.

"Whether you were born in H&F or moved here from overseas, why not join us and help us celebrate the many different cultures which make up our borough."

Like last year, marchers will gather in Shepherds Bush Green before setting off down Goldhawk Road at 11am. The route will take them down through Hammersmith before they arrive at Ravenscourt Park.

They will then be treated to speakers from community groups and performers from around the world.

Highlights will include:

Acclaimed African band Taxi Pata Pata 
Turkish musician and singer Djanan Turan and her band
The Mangrove Steel Band
Albert and Friends Instant Circus
Street dancing by the Scariofunk Collective  
Puppet making workshops by Puppets with Guts.

There will also be stalls selling food from all over the world, and the chance to find out more about the fantastic work of charities and community groups across H&F.

The event is also the finale of the borough’s annual HF ArtsFest which is backed by H&F Council. More than 200 events will be taking place between Friday 2 June and Sunday 11 June. You can find out more here.
