Another Year of Excellent A Level Results at Latymer Upper

"Plenty of happy faces" as students prepare for universities here and abroad

Latymer Upper School students are celebrating another year of excellent results at A Level, with some outstanding individual performances. Over 70% of all results were A* and A grades, with over 30% at A*. Over 100 students took four A Levels or more, and the average UCAS points per candidate was equivalent to over three A* grades per student.

Behind the statistics there are many individual success stories with 30 students achieving at least 3 A*s and 7 achieving at least 4 A*s. Both the Head Girl (Megan Husain) and Head Boy (Ben Clarke) achieved more than 3 A*s. Megan heads to Oxford to study English and French while Ben will take a gap year before studying English and Classics.

This year over 20 students will be heading to Oxbridge including Jonny Danciger, Arthur Holmes and Lara Morgenstern who all joined Latymer from East Sheen Primary School. In addition, Jonny has been awarded a choral scholarship at Oxford.

A number of pupils who joined Latymer Upper School two years ago in the Sixth Form did exceptionally well, including Mohamed Abdelmagid who leaves for Imperial to study Engineering and Aditi Reddy who will join him at Imperial studying Medicine.

Seven students achieved their places at top Art and Music Schools. Sofia Kolupov and Flora Bain both go on to the Royal College of Music and Gabriel Harley takes up a place at Christ’s College, Cambridge as Organ Scholar.

Across the pond, 16 Latymerians have accepted places at prestigious North American Universities including Princeton and Stanford; we wish them all well in their exciting adventure overseas.

Head, David Goodhew says: "I congratulate the class of 2015 on their well-deserved success. There were plenty of happy faces in the hall this morning, and I am delighted that so many will be going to their choice of course at top universities in the UK, and increasingly, the US and Canada.

" Not only has this year group excelled academically, but they have been equally impressive in sport, music and drama, demonstrating the roundedness that we aim for at Latymer Upper. I warmly commend their teachers, whose dedication and skill has helped to make these results possible."
