Steam Railway Supporter Peter Is Safe and Recovering from Illness

Happy news for friends at Severn Railway concerned about Fulham pensioner

Last month Bob Mills, who is a working volunteer on the Severn Valley Railway contacted FulhamSW6.com asking for information about an elderly man from Fulham who is a keen supporter of the railway.

Peter, as he knew him, was a retired accountant who visited the railway every Saturday for the last three years - but had not turned up since it reopened in March following a winter break.

His friends at the railway were concerned about his welfare as this was most unusual and they knew that Peter lived alone.

This week however, there was happy news, with his friends hearing that Peter has been ill but is now on the mend.

Bob, who is based at Bridgnorth Permanent Way Dept, says: " Good news, we have been told that Peter became very ill and hospitalised but is recovering well but with mobility problems which abruptly stopped his regular Saturday visits to Bridgnorth.

He adds: "Two people who knew him made a special visit to tell us and Peter hopes to recover sufficiently to renew his visits."

When he does, he is guaranteed a warm welcome from the volunteers who meet up with visitors at the Railwaymans Arms Pub on Bridgnorth Railway Station.
