H&F's First Street Charging Points for Electric Cars Launch Next Month

Work underway on nine points and residents asked to suggest new locations

The streets of Hammersmith and Fulham are set to have have their first charging points for electric vehicles this spring.

Work has begun installing the first on-street electric vehicle, or EV charging points at nine sites across the borough, creating 18 charging bays.

The first nine charging point sites are listed below. Click here for a pdf map.

  • Brook Green
  • Farm Lane
  • Standish Road
  • Du Cane Road
  • Parson Green
  • Wolverton Gardens
  • Thaxton Road
  • Gayford Road
  • Blacks Road

Once installed and safety tested, the charging points will be ‘juiced-up’ and ready to use by early March.

H&F Council says they are part of its efforts to promote cleaner, greener transport and is now asking residents to suggest locations for the new bays by emailing
parkingpolicies@lbhf.gov.uk .

The council says if there is sufficient demand for a suggested site, it will be reviewed for inclusion.

" We are determined to win our fight against air pollution and installing these new charging points will make owning an electric car convenient and simple for H&F residents and will drive down harmful emissions," says Cllr Wesley Harcourt, H&F Council's Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and Residents' Services.

" Air pollution is a killer and these new charging points are just the first of a network we intend to install across the borough to encourage greener, more sustainable travel."

The EV charging points will be part of the Source London Network which will own and maintain them.

Residents can simply subscribe to the scheme online and then use the network’s charging points anywhere in London.

Ownership of electric vehicles has tripled year on year and following demand from residents, even more bays will be built over the next 12 months.

The bays can only be used by those charging electric vehicles and will be enforced to prevent misuse.
