Council Reports on Aftermath of Storm

Most parks still closed and dangerous trees being dealth with

Hammersmith and Fulham Council has issued an update on Monday lunchtime concerning the aftermath of last night's storm saying:

• We are currently dealing with 21 trees that have either fallen or are leaning dangerously in the borough.

• A burst water main on Uxbridge Road/Askew Road has caused severe flooding in the local area. Emergency services, Thames Water and council workers are on site.

• Power cables are reported to be down at the junction of King Street and Ravenscourt Park. This is being investigated with utilities company.

• Hurlingham Park and Eel Brook Common are open. All other parks remain closed due to unsafe conditions. We are continuing to assess the parks throughout the day but it is possible that some parks will be closed all day. Bishops Park and Lillie Road Recreation Ground are particularly badly affected by fallen branches and debris.

The council and emergency services are dealing with a number of fallen trees this morning. Action is being taken to clear roads and make these areas safe.
