Westfield Hosts Giant Job Show to Help Fill Up to 8,000 Vacancies


Thousands of new jobs coming to Shepherd's Bush in expansion launching in March


Westfield London is hosting a giant Job Show on 30 and 31 January to help fill up to 8,000 new vacancies being created by its expansion, which launches in March.

When the £600 million new extension opens, the shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush, which will become the largest in Europe.

The Job Show, open to all from 11am to 7pm on both days, will showcase thousand of new retail, catering and leisure jobs. Visitors will get first-hand information on new roles from retailers including Primark and Adidas, as well as fashion stores Urban Revivo and Emperor, furniture specialists West Elm and Bo Concept, lingerie store Bravissimo, Japan Ichiba Food Hall and boutique bowling venue All Star Lanes.

"As a wider Employment and Training Group, with Hammersmith & Fulham Council and together with local colleges, we have done a great deal to help inform and prepare the local community for these jobs and now, with the launch of the expansion just over two months away, we encourage local residents to head along to the Job Show to apply."

The shopping centre is also taking part in the White City Skills and Employment Show, taking place at White City Community Centre on 16 January from 12pm till 6pm.

Since its opening in 2008, Westfield London has created over 12,000 new jobs, either as a direct employer or through retailers offering fashion, food, leisure and entertainment.

It is now working in partnership with Hammersmith & Fulham Council to promote employment and training opportunities to the local and London community.

Examples include free courses recently launched in collaboration with West London College and City of Westminster Collegero become job-ready. These courses give residents the chance to gain an accredited retail, hospitality or catering qualification in just two weeks.

More free training as well as details of the latest vacancies are available through free recruitment service Work Zone which is based at Shepherd's Bush Library in Westfield London.

Many of the businesses have agreed to advertise exclusively with WorkZone for a short period when vacancies first come up and residents can register their CVs to find out about jobs before they are publicly advertised.

Dedicated one-to-one advisors can help jobseekers apply for jobs, prepare for interviews, get training, and can offer debt and benefits advice.

Andrew Jones, H&F Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, says: "There are thousands of new job opportunities right on our doorstep and many more still to come with the shopping centre’s new expansion.
