Be Prepared for Sunday's West London Run

Roads across Fulham to be closed from 7.30am till midday

On Sunday November 15, Fulham is hosting the inaugural West London Run, with major roads across Fulham closed for the occasion and local stations expected to be busier than normal.

The 10km traffic free run will start at 9am on Eeel Brook Common, with the organisers describing the run as follows:

1 – 3k:
The run starts alongside Eel Brook Common on New King’s Road. You will turn left onto Harwood Road and join Fulham Road as you pass the 1k marker. The course continues onto Parsons Green Lane, before looping right and joining New King’s Road again at the 2k point. The route continues back onto the Fulham Road before joining Munster Road.

4 – 7k:
Heading back down Munster Road, you’ll hit the 5k marker and pass the on-course water station and cheer points. Refreshed and ready for the next leg, turn left onto Fulham Road and pass the 6k marker, before looping around the cafés and restaurants of Jerdan Place and continuing on past Fulham Broadway.

7 – 10k:
At 7k you will loop around the grounds of Stamford Bridge and then back along Fulham Road. Next you will turn left onto Harwood Road before you turn onto the New King’s Road to cross the finish line on Eel Brook Common.

There will also be a one mile Family Fun Run starting at 9.15am once the 10k runners have begun their race.

Official ambassador for the race is Victoria Milligan, who is tackling her first ever 10k event after losing her left leg in a tragic boat accident, in May 2013 which cost the lives of her husband Nick and daughter Emily.

She says: " After physically adapting to losing my leg, I am now able to wear a running blade, which has enabled me to get back into health and fitness. I have never run 10k before, but I am determined to cross the finish line regardless of whether I run, jog or walk, all in aid of Child Bereavement UK. If I can do it, really, anyone can!"

For spectators, the organisers say the Race Village on Eel Brook Common and will be open from 7.30am. They say after the start of the 10k, why not stay in the Race Village where there will be a number of stalls selling refreshments, so you’re ready to cheer your loved ones on when they cross the finish line?

There will be roaming information points. Look out for our volunteers in the Race Village wearing bright green ‘Here to Help’ t-shirts – they are able to help with any queries relating to the event, as well as provide directions.

Coloured flags will mark a number of meeting points around the Race Village, making it easier to find loved ones at the end of the race. It will be particularly busy before and after the race, so it’s a good idea to arrange a meeting point in advance for post-race congratulations!

Sharky and George, one of the partners of the Family Fun Run, will be putting on loads of fun and games while runners compete in the 10k. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

There’s plenty of room along New King’s Road to get a good view of the start of the race and the finishing straight when the runners return. A number of key spectator cheer points are also highlighted on the course map.
