Two Teenagers Plead Not Guilty to Murder of Omid Saidy


Both to be tried at Old Bailey in April over killing in Parsons Green Lane

Two teenagers have pleaded not guilty at the Old Bailey to the murder of Omid Saidy in Parsons Green in October 2017.

Shafiq Smith, 18 of Brudenell Road, Tooting Bec pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder and threatening a person with a bladed or pointed article in a public place at the Old Bailey on Tuesday, 9 January.

On the same day at the same court, a 17-year-old boy pleaded not guilty to murder and threatening a person with a blade/sharply pointed article in a public place.

Both will appear at the Old Bailey for trial on Monday, 16 April.

A third teenager, Oluwafemi Omotosho, 19 of Pearscroft Road in Fulham, who previously pleaded guilty to possession of a blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and affray, has had his sentencing adjourned until the outcome of the above trial.

Omid Saidy was stabbed in Parsons Green Lane close to Parsons Green Station on the evening of 16 October. He was a popular figure locally, having been a volunteer youth worker, with friends describing him as "one of the good guys" and tributes to him stlll remain on the fences and walls around the station.
