Brown suspected of assaulting wife

Ian Brown, former singer with the Stone Roses, has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting his wife.

Police were called to 46 year-old Brown's home in West Kensington at 8am yesterday after neighbours reported a disturbance.

His wife, Mexican model and actress wife Fabiola Quiroz told officers he had attacked her.

This was confirmed by a Scotland Yards spokeswoman who said: "On arrival, a 37-year-old woman made an allegation of domestic assault."

The singer was arrested on suspicion of assault, and was later freed on bail until next month.

The couple, who married in 1999 have a nine year-old son, Emilio.

Brown was frontman for the Stone Roses for 12 years until they split up in 1996. This year he has denied the group intend to reform and in September announced plans to write and record an album with The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.

In 1998, Brown was jailed for four months for using threatening behaviour towards a British Airways stewardess and captain on a flight from Paris to Manchester.The star banged on the cockpit door and threatened to chop off the stewardess’s hands after she mistakenly offered him duty-free booze.
