Crime Prevention Event Outside Hammersmith Tube Station

Your chance to register your laptop, phone or bike

Local people are invited to have their bikes marked, and register laptops, phone and bikes so they can be more easily recovered if stolen at a Crime Prevention Event taking place on Wednesday June 2 outside Hammersmith & City Line Tube Station in Beadon Road.

Officers from Hammersmith & Fulham Safer Transport Team are running the even, in partnership with other Met Police Teams and other agencies.

The Met Police Recruitment Bus will be attending along with officers from a local cycle team who will be enforcing cycle offences in and around the area. They will also be offering to property mark bike frames.

Revenue Protection Officers will carry out checks on local buses and promote this event and local Street Wardens will patrol the area with a Police Community Support Officer, also promoting the event.

Members of the public will be able to register their laptops, mobile phones and bikes through the Immobilise website which is used by Police to check recovered property. Members of the team will be able to use internet access through their own laptop computer to register, a process that that should take no longer than four minutes for each item.

The Crime Prevention Event will run for four hours, from 10am till 2pm. PC Matt Fryer from Hammersmith and Fulham's Safer Transport Team says: " We would like to encourage as many people as possible to attend this event. Officers will be on hand to give general crime prevention advice and help people register their mobile phones, laptops and bikes on the Immobilise website. "

Matt adds: " The Metropolitan Police is very keen to recruit members of the public to join the Special Constabulary and the recruitment team will be on hand to give information on how to apply."
