St Augustine’s Primary Passes a School Healthcheck
After passing a school 'healthcheck' by Ofsted inspectors with flying colours, St Augustine's Primary, in Hammersmith, has been holding a health and fitness week as part of its work to encourage pupils to look after themselves.
Circus skills led by visiting company Splats, skipping, a fitness activities 'marathon' and a play about the benefits of walking to school were all part of the special week of events taking place at St Augustine's, in Disbrowe Road, from 12 - 16 February.
The school's health and fitness week follows hard on the heels of a glowing report from Ofsted inspectors, which says:
"This is an outstanding school which provides an exceptional quality of education for its pupils."
"As a result of the excellent teaching and support provided for each individual pupil, standards are well above average and achievement is outstanding."
"Pupils successfully adopt healthy lifestyles as a result of the high quality provision in this area."
"The outstanding range of extra-curricular and enrichment activities enables pupils to become actively involved with their school and local communities."
Pupils are said to "love coming to school", with one child commenting, "It's like being in paradise!"
Headteacher Mary Kelliher, whose "excellent leadership" is cited as a key factor in the school's success, said, "This report is a fantastic recognition of our achievements. Everyone at St Augustine's has worked really, really hard."
Cllr Antony Lillis, cabinet member for children's services, said, "This is an exceptional report, which pupils, staff, governors and parents should be really proud of."
