Greenfest Confirmed for June 20


Eco-friendly fun in Furnivall Gardens

Greenfest, Hammersmith's biggest free summer party, will take place by the river in Furnivall Gardens on Sunday June 20 from 1pm to 5pm.

This very popular celebration of all thing green is run by a group of volunteers put together by hfcyclists - the local brand of the London Cycling Campaign - and provides visitors with the chance to meet environmental and community groups, and each other.

There will be music throughout the afternoon, with artists already confirmed including Latin dance band Havana Good Time, Rocket Number 9, whose sound is described as "an infectious mix of soul, funk, blues, reggae and English quirkiness", UK based African band Nsimba Foggis and Taxi Pata Pata and Giuseppe Nieddu, who will play didgeridoo with his band Talking Trees, and will also hold a workshop for people interested in this unique instrument.

For children there will be an art workshop presented by the Kite Studio, Recycletoons, which will be making toys from recycled materials and story telling, free face painting and lots of other activities including planting up seedlings.

There will also be dozens of stalls with over 50 environmental and community groups plus major organisations such as the Environment Agency, the Tideway Tunnel, the Port of London Authority and Thames Discovery, who will be showing archaeological finds from along the foreshore.

Companies taking part include ZipCar, Ecover and the Co-op and there will be selected stalls will be selling herbs, fairtrade goods, natural clothing, toys and gifts from exotic places.
