Glenthorne Road Zebra Crossing to be Relocated

Moved east next month to avoid construction work

Nicky Moodley, Project Manager, Transport and Technical Services Department has written to local residents to explain the move, saying: " As a result of construction works at the Kings Mall car park site the council will be relocating the zebra crossing in Glenthorne Road from the west to the east side of Overstone Road. This will provide a route for pedestrians avoiding the construction site.

"The motorcycle parking bay in Glenthorne Road will also be temporarily suspended. However, motorbikes can be parked free of charge in any on-street shared use parking bay.

" We intend to start the works at the beginning of August 2014. We will aim to keep delays and noise to a minimum and complete the work in about four weeks. If you would like further information about these works please contact me by emailing nicky.moodley@lbhf.gov.uk

" The first phase of the developer’s construction works is expected to last about eighteen months. The relocated zebra crossing may remain at the new location once the construction works have been completed.

" This will be subject to monitoring of the operation of the relocated crossing and any feedback from the local community."

During this first phase of construction, the footway in front of the site (Beadon Road west of Lyric Square and Glenthorne Road to the end of the "existing hoarding" shown in the attached plan) will be temporarily closed to pedestrians and car parking bays will be suspended.

For any queries about construction works please contact Paul MacKenzie at St. George: email paul.mackenzie@stgeorgewl.com

The highway works will be funded by the developer.
