Famous Studios Will Not House Students

Application for Sinclair Road site refused

A well known music studio in Sinclair Road, W14, will not be turned into accommodation for students.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council have turned down an application to transform Nomis Studios into a block of 164 units for students.

Nomis were the studios where the Spice Girls famously first auditioned in 1994, and many other famous musicians rehearsed or recorded there, including Queen, the Who and Paul Weller.

The application, by building company Hive, was rejected by the Planning Committee, who described the planned development as " inappropriate and un-neighbourly" and felt it would have a negative impact on residents.

The design, the impact on traffic, parking and noise also received negative comments from the committee.
