Local people, children and parents will get the chance to spring clean the foreshore of the Thames with environment charity Thames21, as part of the Hammersmith and Fulham Festival on Saturday April 9th.
Nerida Matulick, Thames21’s Local Rivers Coordinator for West London said: “We’re inviting festival goers to help clean up and remove unsightly litter from the foreshore near Hammersmith Bridge.”
“Everyone is welcome to lend a hand and it’s a great way to really make a difference to your environment and make contact with local people interested in improving the neighbourhood. After we’ve finished cleaning up, volunteers will be able to go on a river boat trip courtesy of Thames Strategy.”
Thames21 provide practical support, including equipment like boots, gloves and litter pickers to local people and organisations seeking to get involved in community work to clean up their local rivers and canals.
Hand-in-hand with communities, Thames21:
· remove litter;
· create new habitats for wildlife, flora and fauna
· install artwork
· promote safe and equitable access to our waterways
· remove graffiti
· education projects
· involve local communities in all aspects of our work to prevent pollution and promote sustainable behaviour
To take part in Thames21’s festival clean up meet between Hammersmith Bridge and Riverside Studios at 10:30am.
