Tower block planned for West Kensington

A huge complex including a 24-story tower, 433 flats, a crèche and a health and fitness centre is planned for 11 West Cromwell Road, West Kensington, by developers Multiplex and Tesco Ltd.

The tower block near Earls Court has been designed by Woods Bagot Architects to sit on the site of the existing Tesco Supermarket with Tesco acting alongside Multiplex as a development partner.

The proposal, now awaiting approval from Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham Council, is the latest in a decade-long set of plans for the site.

Of the 433 apartments built, 155 will be affordable housing and 278 will be for private sale.

Residents wishing to find out more about the plans should go to www.rbkc.gov.uk/planning/scripts/acolaidform.asp

The public consultation on the site starts on 11 April and ends 02 May 2008.
