Road safety campaigner hit by car while cycling on the A4

62 year old Jamal Kanafani of Rivercourt Road has been charged with causing the death of 60 year old Michael Fletcher by careless driving in November of last year.

He was bailed to appear at Feltham Magistrates' Court on later this month.

The collision occurred on the A4 Great West Road (outside the Great West Trading Estate) at about 14.40 on 26th November 2008. A Chrysler 4-door saloon was in collision with a man riding a pedal cycle.

Michael was a regular contributor to discussion boards on these sites. He was actively involved in local community affairs helping the Brentford Community Council with scrutiny of planning applications to try and help ensure that developments were in the best interests of residents.

He campaigned for better cycling provision in Brentford and the rest of the borough.
