Over 50s Invited to Town Hall

Time of Your Life celebrates residents

Residents over the age of 50 are being invited to have the time of their lives at Hammersmith Town Hall.

The annual Time of Your Life event has been running for twelve years, and is always a huge success. This year’s celebration on Friday, October 15 runs between 10:30am and 4:30pm, and brings together many events including health checks, dancing and gardening workshops, as well as a full entertainment schedule.

Council staff, health providers and community and voluntary groups will be on hand, giving information and advice on issues such as housing, benefits, pensions, healthy living and falls prevention.

And this year’s event will be captured on film! The theme this year is ‘Young at Heart’ and older people will be interviewed about staying active in the community and supporting each other.

There will also be line dancing and chair aerobics, salsa and dance workshops, massage and alternative therapies, health checks and more.

Cllr Joe Carlebach, cabinet member for community care, said: “Time of Your Life is a chance for our older residents to find out what the council and other organisations can do for them and I would encourage everyone aged 50+ in the borough to come along. People above the age of 50 have a huge amount to contribute to the borough and age is absolutely no barrier to having a positive impact on society. The event is also a chance to make new friends and meet like-minded people.”

Pat Ryan, Chief Executive of event organisers, Hestia, said: "Hestia is a charity delivering services across London. We are passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of people who are vulnerable or socially excluded. This is the second year we have organised the Time of Your Life event and it is highlight in our calendar. We hope that even more older residents from Hammersmith & Fulham will join us and our many volunteers in 2010. It promises to be an exciting celebration."
