GB Picks "Noddy" For Olympic Number 2 Slot


Putney Town Rower has been selected for the British Mens' Eight

A local rower looks set to be part of the Olympic rowing team after being picked for the British Mens Eight.

23 year old Nathaniel Reilly O’Donnell, known affectionately by his team mates as "Noddy", is a recent law graduate from University College London with aspirations of finding a job once his rowing time ends. He is a member of the Putney Town Rowing Club which is based in Mortlake near Chiswick Bridge.

Nathaniel started rowing aged 12 at St Leonard's School.  His mother and two cousins also rowed at St Leonard's, the sport clearly runs in the family!  He has represented Great Britain at various levels during his rowing career.

The GB rowing team are targeting at least three medals in 2012 but could win more at Eton Dorney - there are 14 possible gold medals available. The events are:

* Men’s lightweight fours
* Men’s single sculls, Women’s single sculls
* Men’s double sculls, Women’s double sculls
* Men’s lightweight double sculls, Women’s lightweight double sculls
* Men’s quadruple sculls, Women’s quadruple sculls
