Residents urged to Go Green and commit to a recycling regime
A new campaign aimed at encouraging residents to Go Green for 2007 and commit to a recycling regime has been launched by Hounslow Council.
The scheme will run over a three-month period, with each one focusing on one of the three R’s - Reduce, Re-use and Recycle. There will also be information on dealing with green garden waste and making the best use of a home composter.
Cllr Barbara Reid, Hounslow’s Executive Member for Environment and Planning, said: “We want to make recycling as easy as possible for everyone. By focusing on one aspect at a time, and offering home visits and tailored advice, we hope that all Hounslow’s residents will make a habit of recycling.”
Every month, residents who sign up to the service will receive a pack full of goodies and useful tips, covering a range of issues including:
Residents will also receive personalised advice and a home visit from a recycling officer, with the opportunity to request a household waste audit.
Cllr Reid continued “It may be clichéd to say that small things can make a big difference, but every little bit really does count. We have been set tough national recycling targets - 30% by 2008-9, with increasing penalties if we don't. We therefore want to get residents fully on board.”
