Closure of Hammersmith Flyover

1st-22nd August Expect severe congestion

The A4 Hammersmith Flyover (between Macbeth Street and Colet Gardens) is scheduled to be closed from the 1st of August 2003 to the 22nd of August 2003 for re-waterproofing of the entire deck and structure and the installation of a new drainage system.

There will be night time lane closures a week before full closure to allow preparation works. The flyover will be completely closed for the duration of the works and the contracts allows for 24 hour working, 7 days per week with the aim to reopen the flyover as quickly as possible.

Severe traffic congestion is anticipated on all routes leading to the Flyover, as such, major publicity programmes are being undertaken on major routes leading to Hammersmith including the M25 and the M4 to discourage motorists using the A4 for the duration of works.

TfL believes the work could be completed in as little as 10-12 days but is advertising the full 22 day period as a contingency against wet weather and other delays.
